How do I get better shower pressure? And is changing over hot water from low to mains pressure expensive?

Usually poor shower pressure is a result of incorrect tapware selection when renovating or replacing old tapware, or a low-pressure hot water system. This can be particularly noticeable in the winter months. If the pressure system is the issue, as certified plumbers and gasfitters we can change your system over from low to mains pressure- this will give you instant hot water and continuous hot water! There are multiple options for you to consider (Gas or electric). This is a relatively simple and cost-effective process- starting from $2600+gst. For Gas hot water installation, or even just to find out what hot water install costs might be for you, call Mark Above, your hot water plumbers.

Our shower is cold by the time the third person uses it in the morning. What can I do to stop this?

Changing from electric (hot water cylinder) to a gas infinity system is the most effective way to achieve this. Our gasfitters can offer you a non-obligation assessment and quote so you can find out what hot water installation costs. Again, this can be a cost effective option to give you all the hot water you need and more! Starting from $2600+gst.

What is the best form of home heating?

This depends what you are after and many factors are considered. For example, the layout of your house, when you would use the heating system, the space required to heat. Our plumbers and gasfitters can install various heating solutions from gas central heating units, gas fireplaces, and our favourite - wood fires! If a gas fireplace is the option you choose, then once installed our team can also meet all your gas fireplace maintenance needs to ensure safe gas and cost effective heating for your home.

I am doing a bathroom reno- where do I start?

Need a plumber for bathroom renovations? It is a good idea to get your plumber to come talk to you about the plumbing options and workability of your plans before you begin the project. We have loads of experience which can often prevent you from making simple but costly mistakes. Give a plumber at Mark Above plumbing a call, to come provide a non-obligation on-site visit and offer advice.

How often should my gas appliances need servicing?

Gas appliances can run perfectly for many years, but for safe gas in your home and peace of mind, we would advise you have these serviced every 12-18months. Gas maintenance, whether it be gas hob repairs or gas fireplace maintenance, is not an expensive process but it can increase the longevity of your appliances and make for safer homes.

Is it cost effective to get my existing toilet fixed? Can I just get my leaking toilet fixed?

While sometimes a toilet leak is an easy fix, in other instances it is often not worth trying to fix your existing toilet.

By the time you pay for parts and labour, you would be surprised how close the invoice would come to just putting a new toilet in. Replacement toilet suites are very competitively priced these days- and replacing a toilet, rather than repairing it, gives you peace of mind that you won’t be calling us back anytime soon with another toilet issue.

New toilets are also more efficient and often use less water- meaning a new toilet is often also better for the environment.

So call Mark Above to organise a new toilet suite today and replace that old leaking toilet.

Is it possible to repair a toilet with an inbuilt cistern?

Yes it is possible. However this doesn’t mean it is the best idea. Repairing an inbuilt cistern toilet can be pretty expensive. Parts are often old, access is difficult, and other tradies may also need to be involved.

In these instances, we recommend that you consider either fitting a new one, or even consider changing to a conventional toilet suite to avoid future issues. Or, if you are really keen- it might be time to do that bathroom renovation you are putting off!

What are your payment options?

At Mark Above we understand that sometimes plumbing and drainage expenses crop up and can put a squeeze on households financial situation. Depending on the job Mark Above offer different payment options. All jobs will be offered a quote or estimate, depending on client preference. Small jobs will be invoiced upon completion and should be paid in full. Significant drainage or renovation jobs might require a small deposit before work begins, and then progress payments. If needed, a client could request to pay off an invoice in smaller regular payments, and this can also be accommodated. Just talk to us about your needs prior to work occurring.

How long will it take before a plumber or gasfitter can get to my job?

Mark Above prioritises happy customers and timely responses. We organise our workflow to ensure that we can service work as it comes to us. Maintenance jobs are responded to on the same day or within 48 hours, while larger jobs can be fully accommodated within your schedule! No lengthy wait times with us! And that is a guarantee!

What is your after hours call out fee?

Our call out fee is $120+GST, on top of a standard hourly charge. Different charges may apply for public holidays. Leaking pipe repairs, fixing water pipe leaks or plumbing leaks, is often not something that can wait. Delays could be really costly and cause widespread damage. It is best to call Mark Above Plumbing and Gas’ and we can see if a temporary solution is possible (saving you the after hours call out fee) or whether you need us on site ASAP.
